Do You Have Trouble Sitting Up Straight? Find Out How to Improve Bad Posture, and Why SitFlow Can Help

As kids, most people can remember their parents or teachers yelling at them to stop slouching and stand up straight. Unfortunately, it is all too common for those bad posture habits to be carried into adulthood, and it can be surprisingly bad for your physical health. According to the Kansas Chiropractic Foundation, bad posture can affect breathing, muscles, joints and ligaments, which can diminish overall physical fitness and cause excessive fatigue. To make matters worse, posture related health problems are on the rise, due to our increasingly sedentary culture of Netflix binge watching, Uber rides, and long work hours sitting at a desk.

The good news is, there are plenty of ways to help improve your posture. When standing up, it is beneficial to hold your head high, chin forward and shoulders back, while keeping your chest out and your stomach tucked in. When sleeping, lie on your side or on your back, and never sleep on your stomach! If you lie on your side, make sure your knees are bent. When sleeping on your back, avoid thick pillows under your head.

Last but not least, there are also easy ways to help improve your posture while sitting. Keep your desk or table top elbow high, and make sure your chair has firm lower back support. It is also important to keep the pressure off of the back of your legs, by adjusting your chair or using a footrest. Also remember to keep your knees slightly higher than your hips.

One of the many reasons to use a SitFlow, is that it makes following these tips for improving your posture while sitting so much easier. Instead of using an immovable footrest while sitting, using a SitFlow is far more effective at keeping the pressure off of the back of your legs while also increasing circulation. SitFlows are also designed to make you keep your knees slightly above your hips while sitting, so you don’t have to worry about remembering to do so.
